My California Kelly

We finally got some pictures from Kel. We don't get to see her very often because she is so far away and we have been asking and asking for pictures. Now we have some, and I wanted to share them with everyone. We miss you Kel!!!!!

My Little Wingers

Its really enough to make a grandmother really proud! Lauren (who will not be three until Aug. 11th) and Lilly who will not be two until Aug. 2nd) both can say Datsyuk!!!! Lauren can say Zetterberg - quite amazing considereing their ages. By the time Lauren is four, I'm sure she will be able to recite the names of all the Detroit Red Wing players. I'm so proud.

Work Day at the Swartz's

Work Day at the Swartz's

Mike and Keith worked on the camper. Robin, Deb and girls spent time outside and then retreated to the inside to cook. After a hard days work, we asked Kurt and Erica to join us for dinner. It was a good day!

Stanley Cup Playoffs!

Robin and I had a girls day out on Sunday. We went to game 2 round 2 of the RedWings playoffs. Keith consented to stay with the girls so Robin could have a fun day. Little did he know that the game would go into triple overtime! We had a great time - Keith didn't have such a great time.
I was so excited that I had palpitations all the way from my house to Robin's. I could hardly stand it!!!

We had special outfits - game jerseys of course, and octopus hats. Robin was a little hesitant to wear hers, but after watching me strut down Jefferson in front of Cobo Hall all the way to the Joe with everyone commenting on my great hat - she decided to put hers on. But she waited till we were inside the Joe. My camera case straps got a little caught in my tentacles as I was going through the metal detectors and the security had to help me untangle. We were a proud duo wandering the concourse at Joe Louis Arena with evryone noticing our giant purple octopus hats. They were so envious and everyone wanted to know where to get them

So I have some pictures to share - starting with pregame at the Swartz home.

You Know You're Older When...........

Friday was Mike's birthday and I have been gone all week. I planned on coming home early Friday so we could go to a really nice Italian restaurant that we like in Alpena. So I get home- I've been to a funeral, I have a severe headache, and my sinuses are completely clogged. But we are going to have a nice dinner and have fun.

First - we left too early beacause when we get there it is only 4:00pm - too early for dinner. So we drive into Alpena and look around. Mike starts feeling like his blood sugar is dropping so we stop and he runs into K MArt to get glucose drink. Okay so now we travel on and he starts feeling a little better.

We figured we have spent enough time driving and head back to the restaurant. It is very lovely. We have our salad (they make a great Italian salad with their special house dressing) and warm Italian bread.

Next our dinner arrives and even a half order is too big, but it is very good.
Mike starts feeling funny - warm and jittery. I tell him to go to the bathroom and splash some water on his face. That helped a little but he just wanted to get outside. I get our waitress to pack up our food and away we go. I drive home.
We get home - Mike goes to bed. My head feels like a huge balloon, so I decide to go to bed too. You know I really don't feel good if I go to bed while a Red Wing game is on.

So that was our special night out for Mike's birthday.

No Bones About That!

Haven't written lately because I've been too busy trying to destroy bones in my body. As Robin mentioned in her blog, I broke my rib down at her house - just trying to be a good Mom and Grandma - I was putting Lilly in her crib for nighttime and because I'm just a little short, the rail of the crib plus her activity center pushed into my rib. I could feel that it hurt but didn't think anything of it until every move I made and every breath I took caused a sharp pain that wouldn't go away. So xrays confirmed what I already knew, a nondisplaced fracture of the distal 8th rib. My bones have decreased so much that it doesn't take much. I just had my bone density done - and come to think of it, last year right after I had my bone density done, I had two compression fractures of my back. I guess that the best preventative is not to have a bone density done.

I'm off to see my osteoporosis specialist tomorrow because of the recent events. So we'll see what else they will put me on or have me do.

I'm really tired of all this. It seems that every time I start getting ready to walk and be healthy again, something happens.

Oh well - sorry for complaining!!

WHO'S WHO?

I came across a picture of Robin that looks like a duplicate picture of Lauren. See for yourself.

Happy Valentines day to everyone!

Wrong Order

I can't seem to get things in the right order. First Lauren played in the snow, then she made brownies. After that she had a wicked game of dice where she was a big winner (as you can see) and that's how she could take us to McDonalds. Fun time for all.

Now that she has gone home - Daisy has stretched out on the couch and crashed. She didn't even come to the door when I came home from the grocery store. She always comes out when we get home. I looked on the couch and there she was with her head on the pillow snoozing away. Lauren wore her out. Lauren was always looking for Daisy and chasing her - poor Daisy couldn't even hide.

I told Lauren that she couold come back and stay again and she said yes!!! We loved our time with her.

When I was watching Lauren sleep - I thought to myself, we have to bring Lilly up by herself too. Lilly isn't as high maintenance as Lauren.

So let me rest a week and then we'll see about Lilly.
